We walked into Costco last Friday and Carmen Rasmusen was there doing a book signing. There wasn't anyone at her table and I felt bad just walking by. So we stopped. The book was only $8.50 so I thought why not. She signed it for Hali and Garret. Hali has watched a little big of American Idol so I said Hali she was on American Idol. Hali's jaw dropped and she was speechless. (Those of you who know her know exactly what I'm talking about.) As we continued with our shopping Hali was so excited about her new book. She asked me all kinds of questions, and then she found a picture of Carmen and her husband in front of the Temple. She was so excited! Then I started to explain that lots of people on TV aren't very modest, and they don't believe in Jesus and the Temple. But I told her that Carmen does. Hali was so excited she started hugging the book and wanted to go get a picture with Carmen. We sat down on the couch on Saturday night and I read the first chapter to Hali and Garret. They both listened the whole time! I was shocked. I think it was a great purchase. I didn't even know what the book was about until we got home. It is called Staying in Tune - From American Idol to Nashville, how the Young Women values helped me remain true to the gospel. So far it is a great book. If any of you have young women I think it would be good for them to read. Well even if you have preschoolers, Hali sure loves it!

How cute! I saw that book at Deseret Book the other day and wondered what it was about.. That is so cute that are so into reading it.
p.s. I made your granola and it is really good! Thanks for sharing!
I've never heard of her but it sounds like a good book. I might have to get one.
We loved watching Carmen on American Idol! That's so awesome that she's such a great role model for young (and older!) kids!
I think the tulip festival is over on the 26th. I'm not positive, but I am pretty sure.
I bet Hali will remember that experience the rest of her life!
So funny...I had that exact conversation with Lindy the other day: Some girls on TV or in movies aren't modest, but we know that we should be etc. etc. She would have loved that book too!
