Stars and Stripes

One of our 4th of July traditions is going with my family to the balloon festival in Provo. We have to wake up way too early, but I just don't like to miss it. In this picture you can see that Eric would definitely not mind missing it.
I love dressing the kids up in red, white and blue.
After the balloons we went to Heather and Brett's for a yummy breakfast. Then Eric surprised us and took us on a ride up the canyon. We hiked around at Cascade Springs. It was so beautiful! On the way down the canyon we had a talk about our great country. It was really hard explaining to the kids why we celebrate the 4th. But it was neat to help them understand how lucky we are to live in this great country. Hali wanted us to pack up right then and "head out" to other countries so that dad could build them some new houses. We met Eric's parents at the Purple Turtle for lunch and we went to look at their new house in Lindon. Then we headed to Alpine for a swimming party and BBQ with the Tuckett family. It was a very long day, but we had so much fun. Ever since last year Hali has been asking when it will be July so that we can do fireworks again. She's had a hard time waiting, but they were so happy when it finally got dark.

way fun day. They look so cute (as always). Cascade Springs is one of my favorite places. It sounds like a packed full of fun filled day.

You guys are so lucky that you get to go to fireworks--it's not fun in 110 degree weather. We can never light our own like we did in Utah or we will start the State on fire, and it's against the law here. Did you get to go in the hot air balloon? It looks like your kids are in a basket. Totally cool. I love the father in son picture-precious.
