Everyone was asleep tonight except Hali and I. We had just finished watching Miracle on 34th street. I sat down on the floor with her in my lap and she was telling me how excited she is for Christmas. She said how excited she is to see what Santa is going to bring. Then with no prompting from me she said: "All I want is the tennis shoes and then Santa can bring me whatever else he wants. Even if he doesn't bring me the tennis shoes I can wait until next year, and if my other ones don't fit anymore I can just wear my boots." I had to hold back the tears. I was so amazed that my five year old would have that kind of attitude. We've seen Santa three times this season and every time she is asked what she wants for Christmas she says "New tennis shoes." I've felt kind of bad that it sounds like her parents can't afford to get her new shoes, so I have tried to come up with some other "fun" things that she could ask Santa for. She has finally also added a pirate ship to her little list. But she has told me that she doesn't want to write Santa a letter, he can just bring her what ever he wants to. She is such a wonderful and unselfish child. It is amazing how much I can learn from her. She is such a blessing in our family. I love you Hali, you are my Angel.

What a tender little angel. I think this speaks well of your parenting skills. She's picking up compassion and the true meaning of the Holidays. You should give yourselves a great big pat on the back for a job well done. And I'm tempted to send her a bag full of tennis shoes myself!! What a sweetie. Merry Christmas to you guys!
