The "Chef" Party (My Cry For Help)

As I mentioned in a previous post - I am crazy. Mostly my craziness is due to birthday parties. I really have an obsession. I don't know how to "scale down" I really have tried. With that said here are the details and some pictures of Hali's 5th birthday party...My first problem is invitations. I have never bought an invitaion. I have to hand make everyone. I made little aprons with pockets and kitchen tools that you could pull out for the information. My next problem is trying to not leave anyone out. We invited 15 3-5 year olds! I was actually surprised at how very well behaved they all were. (They were probably just a little overwhelmed by the amount of children I had packed into my house.) I sewed aprons out of dishtowels for each child, and filled the pockets with wooden spoons, measuring spoons, basting brushes and rubber scrapers.
We played a few games, each child made their own pizza, decorated their own cake to take home and then we sang and had Hali's birthday cake. This is the next problem that I have. I cannot ever make a simple cake. I decided on a "Pizza Cake" to go along with the theme. I let Hali help me put the toppings on before the party, she was so excited!
I guess you could say that I had the kids totally confused. I said "Now lets have cake," and I set a pizza box in front of them. I was surprised at how many people fell for it. I guess it could have been a good April Fool's Day prank. That is the party in a nutshell. I left out the months of planning, the 2:30 am nights preparing and the many long to-do lists. The party turned out great, and I am excited to start going to bed at a decent time. Why am I still up blogging??? So if anyone has mastered the technique of "scaling down" please help! My husband would really appreciate it. Oh and a special thank you to my husband, sisters, mom and some cousins for their help and patience with me. I could have never pulled it off without you.

Holy cow girl! You are a rockin' mom!! Ok- I need ideas for Nate's first b-day next month...probably not as glorious as this party--but something cute. Any ideas? The cake looked awesome by the way!

You are so crazy, 15 3-4 year olds! You always go above and beyond. What a super mom. The party looked like a success and I'm sure the mothers where more impressed than the kids. You are so creative. A pat on the back for you!
